Day 02 : Angkor Highlights

Your personal guide will collect you from your Siem Reap hotel around 08:00am for your private day tour of the highlights of Angkor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your first stop is Angkor Thom, the 12th-century masterwork of King Jayavarman VII, a 30-minute drive from Siem Reap. After the Chams occupied Angkor, the king decided to build an impregnable fortress city at the heart of his empire: the scale is staggering.
Your guide will lead you to the Bayon Temple, an eccentric expression of the creative genius and inflated ego of Cambodia’s most celebrated king. Its 54 towers are each topped off with the four faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion), which bear more than a passing resemblance to the king himself. These colossal heads stare down from every side, exuding power and control with a hint of compassion, just the mix required to keep a hold on such a vast empire.
Next, visit the Terrace of the Leper King. This intricately carved platform was the royal crematorium and the statue that was originally thought to be the leper king is now believed to be Yama, the god of death. Walk along the Terrace of Elephants, originally used as a viewing gallery for the king to preside over parades, performances, and traditional sports, to the Baphuon. Once of the most beautiful temples at Angkor, it has undergone a massive renovation by the French and is now once again open for viewing.
You'll break for lunch at a local restaurant before the 15-minute drive to Ta Prohm, the monastery-temple of Tomb Raider fame. Left as it was ‘discovered’ by French explorer Henri Mouhot in 1860, the tentacle-like tree roots here are slowly strangling the surviving stones.
Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
Inclusion:Transfer, guide, entrance fee, lunch, puppet show ticket, cyclo ride and train ticket

Day 03 : Banteay Srei & Roulous Group

We head further out through rural countryside to the small but beautiful temple of Banteay Srei. This temple is largely built of pink sandstone, a harder rock that can be more elaborately carved and better survives the rigors of time. This is an opportunity to capture some good photographs of the clear and detailed carvings. Stop at a local village to visit families who are producing palm sugar. Continue to Banteay Samre: Its rose-colored sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer.
We travel back in time to one of the earliest capitals in the Angkor area, Hariharilaya, now known as Roluos. We begin with a visit to the brick temple of Lolei, originally set on an island in the centre of the Indratataka baray (reservoir). We continue to Preah Ko (sacred cow), named in honour of Shiva's mount, Nandin. Finally, we encounter Bakong, the earliest of the temple mountains, which later became the signature of Khmer kings. It is a giant pyramid, its cardinal points marked by giant elephants. For those that are interested, we can offer a short diversion to the small country town of Roluos, a world away from Siem Reap. We then head for the market in the small country town of Roluos before heading out into the countryside to visit a working farm to find out more about farming techniques that bring the produce of the land to the dinner table.
Finally, we visit Artisan d’Angkor and a local silk farm. Tour of the classes and workshops to get a glimpse into the unique vocational training programs teaching young artists the techniques and styles of classic Cambodian artistry.
Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
Inclusion: Transfers, guide, morning shower, entrance fee, all meals, permit and homestay.
