Day 1 : Arrive Bucharest

Arrival at the international airport of Bucharest. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Bucharest.

Day 2 : Bucharest – Sibiu, 280 km, approx. 5 hours

Sibiu via Horezu; founded in 1690, an World Heritage monument, Horezu monastery is considered to be a masterpiece of "Brâncovenesc style", known for its architectural purity and balance, the richness of its sculpted detail, its treatment of religious compositions, its votive portraits, and its painted decorative works. In the afternoon continue to Sibiu. For just a short stop, you’ll enjoy the fortified monastery of Cozia (dated in XIV century). Overnight at the hotel in Sibiu. (B)

Day 3 : Sibiu

Walk into the city centre in order to see the Large and Small Squares, the Clock Tower and the Liars’ Bridge. We will visit the Evangelical church, an impressive gothic monument, built in 1520. After a well done walking in to one of the most beautiful city of Romania you’ll try a nice traditional lunch in a nearby village. A place where you can visit the Museum of Glass Painted Icons and see how the villagers are living. Free time in the afternoon enjoying walking in Sibiu. Overnight at the hotel in Sibiu. (B)

Day 4 : Sibiu – Hunedoara – Sibiu, 260 km, Approx. 5hrs

Today you’ll do a trip to west side of the Romania, till Hunedoara. Corvin Castle, one of the most important properties of John Hunyadi, the castle was transformed during his reign. It became a sumptuous home, not only a strategically enforced point. With the passing of the years, the masters of the castle had modified its look, adding towers, halls and guest rooms. The gallery and the keep - the last defense tower (called "Neboisa" which means "Not afraid" in Serbian language), which remained unchanged from John Hunyadi's time, and the CapistranoTower (named after the saint, Franciscan monk from the Battle of Belgrade in 1456) are some of the most significant parts of the construction. After the visit continue to Deva for a trip by lower funicular to the local fortress dated from 1296. Late in the afternoon return to Sibiu. Overnight at the hotel in Sibiu. (B)

Day 5 : Sibiu – Alba Lulia – Cluj Napoca – Baia Mare, 320 km , Approx. 6hrs

Today continue your journey in the northern part of Romania, one of the wildest and most traditional part of the country. On the way stop in Alba Iulia to have a walk in the citadel. Alba Iulia is a city with great history, known as Apullum during the Roman Empire, the city became one of the most important Romanian city, being the location where all Romanians got united in 1918. Late in the evening arrive in Baia Mare, the gate to Maramures County. Overnight at the hotel in Baia Mare. (B)

Day 6 : Maramures County, 200 km, Approx.4 hrs

Full day tour of Maramures area, visit Surdesti wooden church with the tallest wooden tower from Europe, world heritage, continue with Plopis also an UNESCO heritage. Enjoy the villages on Iza Valley till the border with Ukraine, in Sighet. Visit one of the wonder of the world: the Merry Cemetery, famous for its colorful tombstones with naïve paintings describing, in an original and poetic manner, the persons that are buried there as well as scenes from their lives. The unusual feature of this cemetery is that it diverges from the prevalent belief, culturally shared within European societies – a belief that views death as something indelibly solemn. Connections with the local Dacian culture have been made, a culture whose philosophical tenets presumably vouched for the immortality of the soul and the belief that death was a moment filled with joy and anticipation for a better life (see also Zalmoxianism). Day 7 : Baia Mare – Bucovina area, 350 km, Approx. 6 hrs

This morning depart to Bucovina. On the way stop for visit the wooden churches in Poienile Izei (World Heritage) and Barsana. Continue to Bucovina county thru Prislop Pass. Arrival in the evening, Overnight at the hotel in Gura Homorului. (B)

Day 8 : Bucovina area 200 km, Approx. 4 hrs

Today you’ll taste a little bit from the Romanian inwardness. You’ll visit the World Heritage outside painted monasteries, unique in the world: Sucevita – the only one built in the XIV century with high and thick walls like a real fortress, Voronet – the Sistine Chapel of the Orient, founded by the king Stephan the Great in 1487 to celebrate a big victory over the Ottoman Empire, Moldovita – founded by Petru Rares in 1537 with a stunning representation depicts the Tree of Jesse, representing Christ’s genealogy, a wide-spread iconographical theme in Europe during the Middle Ages. During your incursion thru history and religion you can stop in Marginea to enjoy the local workshops of black ceramics. Overnight at the hotel in Gura Homorului. (B)

Day 9 : Bucovina area – Sighisoara, 300 km, Approx. 6 hrs

This morning proceed to Sighisoara via Bicaz Gorgeous, passing near Red Lake. Arriving in Sighisoara, located in the heart of Transylvania, this is the hometown of Vlad the Impaler and is considered to be one of the most beautiful medieval citadels in Europe. Though it is still inhabited, you will be amazed by the charm and mystery that surround it. Overnight at the hotel in Sighisoara. (B)

Day 10 : Sighisoara – Brasov, 125 km, approx. 2 hrs

On the way to Brasov stop in Premier to see the Peasant Fortified Citadel (World Heritage) built by Teutonic Knights in 1212- 1213. In the afternoon enjoy visiting Brasov, formerly known as Kronstadt, medieval town that used to be the capital of Transylvania. Take a walk in the Council Square and admire the impressive Black Church. Overnight at the hotel in Brasov. (B)

Day 11 : Brasov

Full day visit of the castles from Prahova Valley. Visit of Bran Castle the fortress built in the 14th century, worldwide known as Dracula’s Castle, due to the American movie directors and continue with Peles Castle, former summer residence of the royal family of Romania, built in the 19th century by the first King of Romania – Carol the 1st. Nowadays this castle hosts an impressive collection of weapons and art objects. Return to Brasov. Overnight at the hotel in Brasov. (B)

Day 12 : Brasov – Tulcea, 400 km, approx. 7 hrs

Today depart to Tulcea via Galati. Today is along day drive from the mountins till the Danube Delta, on the Black Sea cost. Passing the Danube by ferry in Galati continue the journey to Tulcea where Delta beggin. Overnight at the hotel în Tulcea. (B) 

Day 13 : Danube Delta (WH)

Today you start your jouney with a incursion into Danube Delta (World Heritage site); The Danube Delta is the second largest river delta in Europe, after Volga Delta, and is the best preserved on the continent.[1] The greater part of the Danube Delta lies in Romania (Tulcea county), while its northern part, on the left bank of the Chilia arm, is situated in Ukraine. The approximate surface area is 4,152 km², and of that, 3,446 km² are in Romania. If we include the lagoons of Razim-Sinoe (1,015 km² with 865 km² water surface), located south of the main delta, the total area of the Danube Delta reaches 5,165 km². In the afternoon return to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Tulcea. (B)

Day 14 : Bucharest

Departure to Bucharest via Constanta, the biggest Rumanian city on the Black sea cost. Stop in Histria to visit the ancient Greek ruins. Arrive in Constanta and stop for a visit to National History Museum and the Roman Mosaic dated from 100 BC. In the afternoon continue the journey to Bucharest. Overnight at the hotel în Bucharest.  Day 15 : Bucharest

Today enjoy a short panoramic tour of Bucharest: Revolution Square, the main Orthodox Church in Romania, the Romanian Athenaeum, the mer Royal Palace, People’s Palace (exterior), University Square, Arch of Triumph, entrance in Open Air Village Museum. In the afternoon free time. Overnight at the hotel in Bucharest. (B)
